2015 – Rostock / DE: 13th International Student Forum

13th International Student Forum 2015 in Rostock (Germany)

We are very pleased to announce the 13th International EAS Student Forum in 2015, which is to take place on 24th – 27nd March 2015 in connection to the 23rd EAS Conference and ISME Regional Conference in Rostock (DE).

The focus of the forum is on giving student teachers the opportunity to share and exchange their experience and views of music teacher training and to explore and discuss issues which impact upon the future of music education in schools and beyond. The key questions will be very closely connected to central aspect of the main conference.

The theme of the Student Forum is the same as the conference theme:

There will be three elements to the programme:

1.    Practical and creative music making through sharing examples of musical activities and repertoire from their own context, and creating new music together.

2.    Discussion focused on the theme of the forum and sharing the students’ different experiences and perspectives of learning to become a teacher in their own school system.

3.    Participation in selected conference activities, and group work.

Students will gain insight into each other’s ideas, approaches in music education and the school contexts of the different countries. The hope is that they will discover common ground in their knowledge and understanding and a better awareness of their own context, and that they will come away with new friends and a place within the EAS network.

There are 26 places available (for 20 participants from other EU countries and 6 students from Germany). Applications will be coordinated by EAS National Coordinators (http://www.eas-music.org/about-eas/national-coordinators/)

The deadline for application is  15th January 2015. Notice of acceptance will be on 20th of January 2015. Priority will be given to the nominees from the countries/institutions which were not represented at previous Forums.
