The pace of change in society, technology and in schools has accelerated since the beginning of the millennium. These changes give us the opportunity to rethink our traditions and challenges us to transform them. In schools such changes are evident in: the demographic makeup of the classroom; the ways in which young people consume, make and create music; the ways in which music is taught and transmitted; etc.
The theme for 31st EAS Conference in Dublin, “Traditions in Transformation”, invites music educators to examine and reflect on what music learning and teaching looks like in the contemporary classroom.
