Sandra Fortuna
Conservatory of Music in Rome
Professor of Pedagogy and Psychology of Music in the Department of Music Education at the Conservatory of Music in Rome (Italy). She is a PhD. Supervisor in the Doctoral School on Artistic Research in the same Conservatory, a Member of the Scientific Committee of the Italian regional representation of ESCOM. She holds a Ph.D in Systematic Musicology (Ghent University), an MA degree in Musicology, Music Education, and Violin Performance. As a Music teacher trainer, she has taught and coordinated training courses in musical education for nursery, primary, and secondary schools, organised by the Ministry of Education, for several years. She is also involved in several International and National projects in Music education. Her research, grounded in the theoretical paradigm of Embodied Music Cognition, seeks to investigate the relationship between body movement, visualisation and sense-making in listening and instrumental learning of children. For her research activities, she has been invited to give lectures in Italy and abroad and has published in numerous national and international journals.
