NC Albania

Majlinda Laçaj is a senior expert and leader (government and NGO) in education, cultural heritage, innovation, science and technology with more than 20 years experience. She is the National Coordinator for Albania since 2025. Majlinda is the director of AlbSmartFolk Global Albanians Network, a nationwide reform project for traditional Albanian and folk music in partnership with several academic and scientific research institutions from the United States, the European Union, and the United Kingdom.

Since 2024, she has been a mentor for the STEM-UP Network Women based in the United States of America, one of the most well-known networks in the world for women engaged in science, technology and innovation. She holds an MBA in Education, an MBA and an MSc in Folk and Traditional Music. Since September 2024, she has been the coordinator of the joint UNESCO-MEKI project for the preservation of the knowledge of the Xhubleta – an antique traditional Albanian clothing about 4 thousand years old, placed under the protection of UNESCO. She is a research fellow at the University of Rochester (United States) and Lancaster University (UK) with the aim of reforming Albanian Folk and Traditional Music, and she is the the holder of several decorations and honorary titles as “Women Tech Ambassador”, “Grand Excellence”, “Ambassador of Peace” etc. Her passion is music, education, lecturing, cultural heritage, reading, traveling, photography, moderation etc.
