Andreas Bernhofer
is Professor of Music Education at the Department of Music Education at the University Mozarteum Salzburg. He is actively involved in the curriculum development of teacher education programmes in music and instrumental music education and coordinates the school outreach programme MOZ-ART-ZONE. Andreas Bernhofer studied music education, instrumental music education, mathematics, and instrumental (vocal) pedagogy with a focus on guitar in Salzburg. After ten years of teaching music and mathematics at secondary schools in Salzburg and Bavaria, he joined the University Mozarteum Salzburg as a predoctoral and postdoctoral researcher, later becoming Assistant Professor and subsequently Professor of Music Education.
His research focuses on classroom-based music education, digital media in music teaching, music didactics, and qualitative research methods. In his current research, Andreas Bernhofer and his team explore youth cultures and school music culture, including the project “Musik-Multis: Next Generation.”
Within the EAS, Andreas Bernhofer initiated the international research project „Schools@Concerts: Tuning up for the music experience“ which is documented in the EAS book series Vol 10.
