Ruta Kanteruka
For more than 20 years I have been working as a music teacher at the international education system, currently at the King’s College Latvia. I have a Master’s Degree in Music from the J. Vitols Latvian Academy of Music in 2009. I also have experience in the International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme (IBPYP), the International Middle Years Curriculum (IMYC), the International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE), and International Baccalaurate Diploma Programme (IB DP). I have taught music to students aged 2 to 18 and have experience in performing, singing and playing piano, soprano recorder, guitar and a bass guitar. I’m also a vocal teacher, choral conductor, and a piano and guitar tutor.
Since 2010 I have been the National Coordinator of Latvia of the European Association for Music in Schools (EAS) and since 2012 I have been the head of the Latvian Music Teachers’ Association. As a Riga City Music Teacher’s Advisory Board member and experienced practitioner in the field of music education, I often give lectures and practical workshops in Latvia and other EU countries. The topic of my main research: Differentiated Music Instruction in the Classroom.
