Dr. Demosthenes Dimitrakoulakos is the National Coordinator for Luxembourg for the European Association for Music in Schools (EAS), Academic Leader of the Arts at the International School of Luxembourg (ISL), and Adjunct Lecturer in Music Education at the University of Luxembourg.

At ISL, he provides academic leadership in teaching and learning, curriculum development, and programme coordination across music, visual arts, theatre, media and film, design technology, and computer science. He also teaches secondary music within the International Baccalaureate (IB) Middle Years Programme (MYP) and Diploma Programme (DP), as well as the International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE). At the University of Luxembourg, he contributes to the education and professional preparation of future music teachers, with a focus on music education in Luxembourg, pedagogical approaches, and professional practice.

Beyond his teaching and leadership responsibilities, Dr. Dimitrakoulakos has contributed to international music education through his previous work as an IB Music curriculum consultant and Diploma Programme Music Examiner, as well as through his ongoing research and publications in music education. He also serves on the EAS Board and contributes to European music education advocacy and collaboration through his participation in the European Day of Music in Schools (EuDaMuS).

An experienced trombonist and conductor, he previously served as a professional musician with the United States Army Band in Germany and has guest-conducted ensembles across North America, Europe, and Asia. He is also engaged in musicological research, scholarly editing, and the preservation and publication of historical musical works, particularly those of American composer Richard Lane.

Dr. Dimitrakoulakos holds a PhD in Education from the University of Luxembourg, a Certificate of Advanced Graduate Study in Music Education from Boston University, a Master of Arts in Teaching from Indiana University Bloomington, and a Bachelor of Music from the Oberlin Conservatory of Music.
