The EAS announces an open call to members for the position of Deputy Treasurer leading to Full Treasurer.
EAS Deputy Treasurer 2024 (leading to Treasurer from June 2025 onwards)
Role Description and Responsibilities
(As for all Board Members, whilst the main roles are indicated below, within meetings, the Deputy Treasurer/ Treasurer is involved in decision-making about many aspects of the EAS.)
The Deputy Treasurer will be an invited member of the board.
With the support of the current treasurer, they will take on some roles from March 2024 until June 2025, at the same time as shadowing the current treasurer in all other duties.
From June 2025 until the conference in 2027, the Deputy Treasurer will become the full Treasurer and take on all duties noted below. At this time, they will become part of the Executive Committee (along with the President, the Vice President and the Secretary).
Anyone applying for the position will be expected to take on the Deputy Treasurer and then the Treasurer role. This means that they will be committed to the positions from March 2024 until the conference in 2027.
Deputy Treasurer Role
- Keeps a record of the accounts;
- Updates the budget and
- Composes a budget plan;
- Shadows the Treasurer in the roles below.
Treasurer
- Contact person for the bank and the accountants;
- Monitors the record of accounts;
- Reports at the General Assembly and ensures accounts are audited by two regular members;
- Advises the board on any financial matters.
- Liaises with the board member responsible for membership.

Criteria for Selection:
- Contribution to EAS: The Deputy Treasurer/ Treasurer is preferably a colleague, who knows about the EAS and is an EAS individual member who has attended recent conferences and contributed to the EAS’s international work.
- Professional Field and Country Network: Deputy Treasurer/ Treasurer’s professional field should be strongly related to music education in schools (e.g. certified music teachers, music teacher trainers, university music teachers, music education researchers)
- Motivation: The Deputy Treasurer/ Treasurer must be interested and engaged in developing our common European network for music education and be prepared to attend EAS conferences and engage in board meetings (mainly online) between conferences.
- English Language: The Deputy Treasurer/ Treasurer should be able to communicate well in the medium of English.
