Open Call for Editorial Board Members of the EAS Book Series

The EAS announces an open call, among its members, for six positions of Editorial Board Members of the EAS Book Series European Perspectives on Music Education (EPoME), for the years 2024-2028 (applications by 31st January 2024).

Editorial Board Member of EPoME: Role Description and Responsibilities

The EAS book series European Perspectives on Music Education (EPoME) takes a thematic approach to presenting research, policy and practice in music education. Each book in the series is usually linked to the theme of an EAS conference and edited by a team which includes the conference host. It is not a conference proceedings, however. The contributions are peer-reviewed.

The members of the Editorial Board

  • develop and supervise the series’ quality
  • cooperate with the conference host (book call, quality criteria of papers)
  • propose the editors to the EAS board
  • appoint the EPoME reviewers
  • supervise the editing process
  • support the peer review process
  • support book presentations and make the series visible
  • communicate with the publisher.

Criteria for Selection: 

  • Contribution to EAS: The Editorial Board Member would preferably be colleagues who know about the EAS and are EAS members who have attended recent conferences and contributed to the EAS’s international work.
  • Professional Field: The Editorial Board Member’s professional field should be strongly related to music education in schools (e.g. specialised/certified music teachers, music teacher educators, university music teachers) and should be well-known by music education networks, and recognised as good practitioners or well-known scientists in their countries.
  • Qualifications: The Editorial Board Member should have experiences in academic writing and reviewing papers or book chapters in the field of music education, editing books and/or journal issues (in an international context).
  • New Chair of EPoME: After a phase of transition, the EAS Board will appoint a new Chair of the Editorial Board of EPoME. Therefore, applications from EAS members with qualifications in leadership are also very welcome!
  • Motivation: The Editorial Board Member must be interested and engaged in developing our common European network for music education, help to make the book series visible in international and national contexts, and motivate people and institutions to contribute to the series.
  • Geographical spread: The Editorial Board should represent different regions of Europe
  • English language: The Editorial Board Member should be able to communicate and write well in the medium of English.
